About Our Homeschool Drop-Off Program in Blue Springs, MO

DHA's Academic Program is a weekly 2-day homeschool drop-off program in Blue Springs, MO that employs qualified, Christian teachers who work with students on Mondays and Wednesdays from mid-August to May. Teachers will academically challenge and support Pre-K - 8th grade students through guided instruction, group collaboration, and presentations. They will also provide student assignments that are to be completed on Thursday and Friday of each week.

Parent educators will find encouragement and support as they oversee student assignments. They will also appreciate the accountability students receive as they stay on target each week.  While our teachers will provide lessons plans to stay on track throughout the year, parents are the primary teacher and will determine the final grades for students.

Teaching Team

Our Academic teaching team consists of caring, Christian teachers with a teaching certification or equivalent teaching experience. Each school morning, we meet as a staff and pray for the students!

Curriculum & Instruction

Our goal is for students to be encouraged, motivated, and challenged academically through the year with both textbook and hands-on learning.  Working in groups and partners helps with accountability and encourages students to stay on track and complete the assignments on time.  Students will have opportunities to participate in presentations, speeches, work in groups, play games, and more, which utilizes the classroom atmosphere. Teachers will keep families on pace through the curriculum for at-home learning on Thursdays and Fridays via a shared lesson planner.

Our homeschool academy's Preschool and Kindergarten students will be in self-contained classrooms developing age-appropriate skills. Students in 1st grade and up will study Language Arts, Reading, Math, Social Studies, Science, and enjoy a brain break with a PE class. Kindergarten - 1st grade uses a combination of Abeka and BJU Press Curriculum. 2nd - 6th grade primarily utilizes BJU Press Curriculum.  7th - 8th grade utilizes a variety of homeschooling curriculum including: All Things Algebra, Apologia, Notgrass, and BJU Press.

Parents are responsible for purchasing their student's curriculum materials. A full list of required curriculum will be provided to enrolled families, so that each family may purchase the needed materials for their student(s) prior to the school year beginning.

Parents are the primary teacher and will determine the final grades and track Missouri Law hours for students. DHA staff is available if you have any questions. Parents also have the ability to limit workload or maximize the assignments, depending on the individual student and their needs. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with Missouri Homeschool Law.

Typical Day

Grades Pre-K through 2nd, will bond with their teacher for the day in self-contained classrooms. Grades 3rd - 8th will have multiple teachers that specialize in their fields. Younger students will have a short recess time, while all students will get a brain break during PE class!

Parents are not required to participate or help during the school day.  It is the parent's day to do other fun and needed things!  However, we do encourage parents to help with class parties and field day!

DHA's Enrichment Program offers Pre-K to 10th grade students the opportunity for hands-on learning. Brain-based research shows that students learn and retain information best when using all their senses. Students enjoy singing songs, playing games, participating in experiments, creating beautiful art, and actively moving through the day. All this active energy is creatively channeled while the students are learning grade level standards that are age appropriate.  Our partnership creates a well-rounded school year experience for each child.

When attending only the one day a week enrichment program, parents may choose whatever curriculum they would like to utilize at home the other days of the week.  Or, many of our Enrichment families also choose to attend the 2-day Academic program.  You can find out more information about this program at the top of this page.
