Recommended Resources

Understanding Missouri homeschool basics is the first step to building a successful home education plan, and fortunately, Missouri is often considered one of the most homeschool-friendly states in the country. Parents are not required to register with the state or follow a specific curriculum, but Missouri law does require homeschool families to provide at least 1,000 hours of instruction each school year. At least 600 of those hours must be in core subjects: reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science.
Maintaining simple records such as lesson logs, samples of student work, and progress evaluations is also an important part of staying compliant with the current Missouri homeschool law. In addition to understanding these foundational requirements, families can benefit from exploring Missouri homeschool resources like local homeschool co-ops, local enrichment programs, and support groups that provide community, structure, and encouragement throughout the homeschooling journey.
